- Sites of injection: Left and right outer thigh
- Muscle targeted in the injection: Vastus lateralis
- Origin: Lateral lip of linea aspera and gluteal tuberosity
- Insertion: Quadriceps tendon
- Action: Knee flexion
- How to locate: Locate the middle third or outer portion of the thigh.

- Site of injection: Around the shoulder
- Muscle targeted in the injection: Deltoid
- Origin: Acromial extremity of clavicle, acromion of scapula, and spine of scapula
- Insertion: Deltoid tuberosity of humerus
- Action: Lateral fibers abduct arm at shoulder joint; anterior fibers flex and medially rotate arm at shoulder joint; posterior fibers extend and laterally rotate arm at shoulder joint
- How to locate: Feel the bone where the patient's arm meets the shoulder. The injection site should be approximately 2 inches below the bone.
