- playtsma: origin - fibers arising from the fascia of the upper thorax including the clavicle, acromial region, pectoralis major and deltoid muscles, insertion - the lower border of the mandible or the skin of the lower lip, action - pulls the mandible down to opens the mouth, and pulling the corners of the lips side and down to forms a frown.
- mentalis: origin - incisive fossa of the mandible; insertion - skin of the chin; action - elevates the lower lip's base
- orbicularis oris: origin - mid line of mandible; insertion - tissues of upper and lower lips; action - mastication/chewing
- corrugator supercilli: origin - medial end of supercilliary arch of frontal bone; insertion - skin of the eyebrow; action - pulls skin of eye brow downward and medially
- orbicularis oculi: origin - nasal portion of the bone, maxilla, medial palpebral ligament; insertion - eyelids; action - closes eyelids
- occipitofrontalis: origin -nuchal line ; insertion - epicranial aponeurosis/frontal belly; action - elevates eyebrows and forehead
