How the food changes consistency and form.
- The alimentary canal is responsible for the food’s change of consistency and form. This canal includes the following: mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, and small and large intestines. Digestion is the process observed in this scenario, wherein the foods are broken down mechanically and chemically through different body parts. The foods ingested are transformed from complex to simpler forms. This process help the body to receive various nutrients—improving one’s health. Furthermore, the change of consistency and form makes it easier for the food to move from the mouth down to the large intestine as the food takes its simpler form.

How the body was able to absorb the nutrients from the foods we eat.
-
Our bodies obtain different kinds of nutrients through foods. However, before it transforms into nutrients, this is first ingested, digested, and absorbed. Ingestion is done through the mouth, where the foods enter. The food is mechanically digested through chewing and swallowing. After that, the esophagus will transport the food from the throat to the stomach. The stomach will temporarily store the food first as it is also being digested with the help of digestive enzymes. Next, the food is furtherly absorbed into the small intestine. The nutrients broken down from the food will now be absorbed into the blood vessels surrounding the intestine walls. And lastly, the remains from the food will be transported to the large intestine, where water is absorbed, and feces are formed.
