  1. How the food changes consistency and form
The food enters the oral cavity where chewing and hydrolysis happen. After these processes, the food becomes a bolus, a soft round mass of food mixed with saliva. Next, the bolus is transported by the esophagus to the stomach where it is turned into chyme, the thick semifluid form of food that was digested. Afterwards, the chyme goes through the small intestine where its nutrients are absorbed. Then, it enters the large intestine where it exits through the rectum as feces.

  2. How the body was able to absorb the nutrients from the foods we eat.
The body is able to absorb the nutrients from the food by breaking down the food first into simpler substances before making it go through the small and large intestine. Most of the nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine. On the other hand, the large intestine absorbs salt and water from parts of the food that cannot be digested.
