  1. The signs and symptoms of inflammation are redness, discomfort, heat, and swelling. It is a component of the body's non-specific immunity. The initial phase comprises three stages: vasodilation and increased blood vessel permeability. Vasodilation increases blood flow in the inflamed area; as a result, the enhanced permeability expedites the movement of protective proteins, clotting factors, and antibodies. Phagocytes migrate during the second stage. Neutrophils and monocytes travel toward the sites of inflammation during phagocyte emigration. The final phase is tissue repair, during which the inflamed areas recover.
  2. Innate immunity is a natural defense mechanism that is present at birth. It involves barriers, the first line of defense in the immune response that protects us and prevents diseases and harmful microorganisms from entering the body. Inflammation is typically the result of the innate immune system's defense against infections.
