Choose one concept in our lesson today, give a brief explanation about the concept and cite how you would apply this learning in your everyday life.

Immunity is the body’s ability to resist or eliminate potentially harmful foreign materials. There are two types of immune responses, including rapid (innate) and slow (adaptive) responses. Apart from its literal meaning and function, I’d like to think of this as a comforting notion that there are different ways of dealing with obstacles– the “foreign materials” of life per se. Different situations call for different solutions. The way we deal with our problems is circumstantial. Sometimes, it might be better to go for the specifics, akin to the mechanism of humoral immunity. In other times, the better solution might be to look at the bigger picture. Furthermore, one other notion that gives me solace is the idea that speed doesn’t immediately equate to success in dealing with problems. This means that regardless of how long it takes to deal with an obstacle in life, if, in the end, we successfully overcome it, then that’s success and healing all the same.
