In all honesty, the concept of fever piqued my interest the most. When I was in elementary, I thought that fever is an illness. Even my grandmother, until now, think that it is a disease. I only knew that fever is a symptom and not a disease when my 7th-grade science teacher discussed the immune system. Now that we have explored the lymphatic system, I became much more fascinated and had an in-depth understanding of how our body protects itself. Fever in itself is not bad as it stimulates the body’s defenses and is a sign that our immune system works. I find this knowledge helpful as fever could be a sign for me to take better care of myself. Frankly, I also find it comforting to know that I have a fever because my lymphatic system is working properly, especially when I experienced it as a side effect of getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
