    • Orbicularis oculi- closes eyelids, compresses lacrimal sac

    • Orbicularis oris- multiple action but more on lips shaping 

    • Buccinator- lateral movement of cheeks

    • Platysma- depresses mandible and mouth angle, tenses skin of the lower face and anterior neck 

    • Zygomatic major- lateral elevation of the corners of the mouth, modifies the nasolabial furrow

Describe the mechanism of his muscle weakness.

Facial muscles can become weak and paralyzed if a facial nerve that carries messages to the associated facial muscles is damaged.

What other symptoms could the patient exhibit as a result of the facial muscle weakness?

Damage and infection to the eye causing visual loss due to dryness. Aside from that, a permanent damage to the facial nerve may occur as well as the permanent facial involuntary contractions.
