- Injection site: Vastus lateralis (anterolateral thigh)
- Origin: greater trochanter, linea aspera of femur
- Insertion: tibial tuberosity, patella
- Action: Extends leg at knee joint
- How to locate: Create an imaginary box on the upper leg to locate the groin. The upper boundary of the box is one hand's width below the groin. Then, locate the top of the knee. The lower box boundary is one hand's width above the top of knee. Administer the injections at the middle third from the imaginary box.

- Injection site: Deltoid
- Origin: acromial extremity of clavicle, acromion of scapula, spine of scapula
- Insertion: deltoid tuberosity of humerus
- Action: Abduct arm at shoulder joint, flex and medially rotate arm at shoulder joint, extend and laterally rotate arm at shoulder joint
- How to locate: Find the bony part to find the acromion process, which will locate the deltoid muscle. The injection site is in the middle of the muscle (2.5 to 5cm below acromion process). Lay three fingers across the deltoid muscle to locate it, as it is three finger widths below in the middle of the muscle.
