ISOTONIC CONTRACTIONS - generate force by changing muscle length; can be eccentric or concentric. Some muscles that exhibited this contraction include:
- Gluteus maximus (concentric)
- Adductor magnus (concentric)
- Triceps brachii (eccentric)
- Rectus formalis (eccentric)
- Trapezius (concentric)
ISOMETRIC CONTRACTIONS - generates force wherein the muscle’s length does not change or remains the same.
- Rectus abdominis
- Biceps brachii
- Deltoids
- External obliques
- Gastrocnemius
