Activity 2: Reflection
The concept I chose is the integumentary system, which includes the skin, hair, sweat glands and oil glands, nails, and sensory receptors. The skin reveals a lot about our personalities, emotions, normal physiology, homeostatic imbalances in our bodies, and even signs of disease or deficiency.
In high school, my mother always told me to take care of my skin and drink lots of organic juice to keep it bright and soft. I am grateful for the foundation she gave me, which has changed my skin-care routine as I get older. Because the collagen fibers in the dermis begin to diminish in number and eventually break apart as we age, I looked into ways to look young despite our age. Furthermore, I was aware that as we age, the number of fibrinogens that cause wrinkles decreases, so I try to live a healthy lifestyle as much as possible to delay this type of situation.
When I was bored, I attempted to grow my nails solely for the purpose of decorating and painting them with assorted colors. However, it always irritates me that my nails break easily and do not last very long. I researched and discovered that certain nutrients cause my nails to break easily. It piqued my interest, so I was thrilled and excited when we studied and learned more about the integumentary system.
