A general concept from our lesson today that I can apply in my daily life is the function of our integumentary system, which is mainly to serve as a protective barrier between our internal organs and the external environment. Although the skin is our first line of defense from bacteria, germs, viruses, and the like, it is our responsibility to take care of it so that it can do its job. We have to be vigilant enough to avoid abrasions and skin diseases, just as our parents lock their eyes on us when we were kids so that we would not tumble on the ground.
