Activity 3. Genes
When we say a gene expresses itself, what does "gene expression" mean about protein synthesis?
-
Gene expression is the process by which the information encoded in a gene is used to produce either RNA molecules that code for proteins or non-coding RNA molecules that perform other functions. It is related to protein synthesis because proteins are made out of replicated, transcribed, and translated genes. Hence, proteins came from and are a form of gene expression.
