  1. Distinguish between somatic and reproductive cell division and explain the importance of each

  • Somatic cells can be found throughout the body, but reproductive cells are only present in reproductive organs. Somatic cell division, which includes mitosis and cytokinesis, causes an increase in body cells. Somatic cells, which make up the body's tissues and organs, are created during the somatic cell division process, which is divided into interphase and mitotic phases. Meiosis, on the other hand, is the form of cell division that produces egg and sperm cells. This includes reproductive cells such as sperm and eggs.

  1. What is the significance of interphase?

  • Interphase is necessary for cell division because it allows the cell to expand, replicate its DNA, and prepare for cell division, or mitosis. Cells spend the majority of their existence in interphase, particularly the S phase, where genetic material must be replicated.
