Body planes are mostly used in medical imaging, the techniques and procedures used to create images of the human body. A radiologist can apply body planes to the images by building an X-Y-Z axis around the patient when imaging them in the standard anatomical position. The placements of the patient's internal organs can subsequently be determined and pinpointed using the planes to get a precise diagnosis. This explains why CT scans, MRI scans, and the like have different views.
