ACTIVITY 4: FEEDBACK MECHANISM
Give other examples of disturbances in the internal environment that can act as stimulus.
There are a lot of examples of disturbances in the internal environment that can act as stimuli. Sometimes these things go unnoticed, but, these are actually telling you that something is wrong with your body. One of these is when there is a decrease in oxygen in our bodies. This disturbance is detected by the kidneys which trigger them to secrete erythropoietin. This particular hormone stimulates the production of red blood cells which provides our bodies with enough oxygen that enables us to continue our daily activities. Another example is when our body is dehydrated. When our body detects this disturbance, ADH or antidiuretic hormone is released to retain as much water as possible. Once the body is already hydrated, the release of this hormone is also inhibited.
