(Anatomical Directional Terms)
- Elbow and shoulder – elbow is distal to the shoulder.
- Left and right shoulders – the left and right shoulders are contralateral to each other.
- Sternum and the humerus – the sternum is medial to the humerus.
- Heart and diaphragm - the heart is superior to the diaphragm.
- Knees and tibia – the knees are superior to the tibia.
- Liver and gallbladders – the liver is anterior to the gallbladders.
- Spleen and liver – the spleen is lateral to the liver.
- Kidneys and small intestines -the kidneys are posterior to the small intestines.
- 3rd and 5th digits – the 3rd digit is lateral to the 5th digit.
- Sternum and thymus glands – the sternum is anterior to the thymus glands.
