Most of the alcohol we consume is broken down by the liver so that it may be eliminated from the body. As a result, chemicals are produced that are even more dangerous than alcohol. These compounds have the potential to harm liver cells and lead to severe liver diseases.

In the given situation wherein my friend drinks alcoholic beverages daily and in large amounts whereas I in the opposite, it could be possible that upon examining both our liver cells, my friend’s would have more smooth ER and peroxisomes compared to mine. Those mentioned parts of the cell actually aids in detoxifying the liver from all the harmful compounds of the alcoholic drinks thus with my friend's body acknowledging the alcohol contents being more than usual, it could react by producing more smooth ER and peroxisomes.
