Activity 4. Feedback Mechanism
Examples of disturbances in the internal environment that can act as a stimulus to a feedback mechanism.
An example of a positive feedback mechanism is adrenaline rush. Often used as a term for a fight of flight scenario; however, this type of adrenaline rush is caused by a disruption in the external environment. Apparently, adrenaline rush can also be caused by a disturbance in the internal environment by factors such as stress or tumor on the adrenal glands. Though, caused by two different environments the process of adrenaline rush stays the same, the sensory information is sent to the hypothalamus and the sympathetic nervous becomes activated causing the body to tense up, allowing for great speed and heightened alertness. During this time adrenal glands receives a signal that triggers them to release epinephrine in the bloodstream causing your body to become almost superhuman for a few minutes or so.
