Give other examples of disturbances in the internal environment that can act as a stimulus to a feedback mechanism.
- An example of disturbance in the internal environment is losing lots of blood which stimulates positive feedback. When the tissue is damaged, it releases chemicals or clotting factors that initiate platelet activation. The resulting platelets form clots over the broken tissue to prevent further blood loss. High blood pressure can stimulate negative feedback from the body. When high blood pressure is detected, the blood vessels signal the brain to slow the heart rate to help lower the pressure in the blood.
