1. According to Republic Act No. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, ¨Segregation and collection of solid waste shall be conducted at the barangay level specifically for biodegradable, compostable, and reusable waste.¨ It is also stated that ¨the LGUs shall be primarily responsible for the implementation and enforcement of the provisions of this Act within their respective jurisdictions.¨

2. As we all know, waste is a massive problem in the country. It is important to understand how to limit your overall trash production, recognize goods that can be reused and set away those that can be recycled is made easier by sorting our waste. Through this, we can help our environment because food scraps, paper, and liquid waste can combine and decay, releasing toxic gas into the sky and into the soil which can greatly affect us, humans.

3. In our province, the local government unit (LGU) determined that garbage trucks could only pick up recyclables and that people should create their own compost bins in their backyards for biodegradable waste like paper and food scraps. A few residents of our barangay made an effort to dig their own compost pits, and some of those with big areas of land shared them with others.
