It will definitely be a lie if driving and traveling is not part of the daily routine of a Filipino especially when it comes to coming to work or school. Despite this, a lot of vehicular-related accidents have been reported in the Philippines around the year 2020. According to the World Health Organization, road traffic accident deaths make up around 1.93% of total deaths.
Because of this, RA 8750 was implemented wherein the said law requires a mandatory compliance of using seatbelts. Obviously, the target population are the drivers. This law aims to promote their safety to minimize accidents to occur. Although the law has its good intentions, there is still a poor implementation of the officers when it comes to effective regulation on the road. The law also does not touch on the root cause of these types of accidents such as reckless behavior of drivers, the unsafe roads and the like. Luckily, Filipinos still follow said health public policy which in turn lessens these types of accidents.
