Introduction of sexuality education lessons in public elementary and high schools

The Department of Education implemented the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) last 2018. CSE is a curriculum-based process of teaching and learning about cognitive, emotional, physical, and social aspects of sexuality that is scientific, age-and-developmentally appropriate, culturally and gender-responsive, and with a rights-based approach. However, despite the claim of having sex education taught in schools, I do not observe the implementation of sex education in both elementary and high schools in our locality.

Sex education would help address our country's increasing rate in teenage pregnancies and increasing incident of HIV among young Filipinos. By providing the children with the correct information and improving their attitude towards sex, they are consequently empowered to make better and informed decisions related to their sexual and reproductive health.
