Unsafe abortion remains to be leading causes of maternal mortality which usually is the  result of unwanted and unplanned pregnancies. It is the grave repercussion of inadequate sex education among individuals of reproductive age.

One way to resolve this issue is to start sex education at the earliest years, begin at home and in schools. Remove stigma from these conversations then naturally curious elementary and high school students will avoid risk-taking behavior, and prevent unwanted pregnancies and ultimately unsafe abortion and death.

I honestly cannot see it being implemented in our locality, since our community is heavily populated with Christians and Catholics baby boomers. Sex is still a taboo and a nauseating topic to discuss among children. Hopefully, when the time comes that sex is appreciated as something a natural biologic process rather than a shameful process, sex education can be implemented in schools.
