“Good Nutrition is a foundation of a child’s survival, health, and development”. What are your insights on this quote?

  • Regardless of age, good nutrition is vital for good health and well-being. It provides most of the nutrients and minerals that the body will need to develop properly, allowing oneself to function and meet their physical, mental, social, and emotional demands daily. Moreover, good nutrition is associated with a stronger immune system, safer pregnancy and childbirth, and reduced risk for non-communicable diseases. As such, it is imperative that childbearing mothers receive good nutrition to provide various materials to facilitate the proper growth and development of their baby. In doing so, stunting is avoided which is associated with poor cognition and educational performance, low productivity, and low adult wages as noted by the WHO.  That is why the quote considers good nutrition as the foundation of a child's overall well-being.
