I am all for family planning. I believe that every human being has the right or freedom not only to decide when to get pregnant but also decide on the number of children they will have.
According to the DOH (n.d.), Family planning allows parents to deliberately and responsibly decide the number and spacing of their children, by avoiding for the time being, or even for an indefinite period, a birth. In a country where religious beliefs greatly affect the health policies that are passed, family planning upholds the agency of Filipino parents and youth when it comes to making accurate and informed choices.
Moreover, family planning does not only benefit the mother, but the family as a whole. With family planning, the mother is enabled to regain her health after delivery and given enough time and opportunity to love and provide attention to her family, for her own personal advancement, and for treatment and recovery when suffering from an illness. Healthy children are provided healthy mothers and the attention, security, love, and care they deserve. The family, particularly the father, is also enabled to give his children their basic needs, give time for his family and own personal advancement, give time for treatment and recovery when suffering from an illness, and has his burden and responsibility in supporting his family lightened as the mother could assist him as well.
