- What do you think are the reasons of high unmet need of FP in the Philippines?
- Conservative. Having sex out of wedlock is a taboo even in these changing times. The idea of teaching sex information to students (through sex education), received raised eyebrows plus its existence in the curriculum has not improved since its conception and it does not meet the standards.
- Strongly catholic country. The RH Law was opposed during its conception as several say it hinders procreation.Even during the proposal and signing of the law, various religious groups tried to stop its implementation.
- What are ways you can suggest to increase the practice of FP in the country? Give least 1-2 suggestions
- Sex education should not be limited to lesson plans but should also make use of educational models. Several video materials show the use of banana to represent the penis where a condom is placed for practice. The use of demonstration evaluated through return demonstration can also be used.
- Boost comprehensive FP video tutorials that can be found in YouTube. Several creators have stepped in to disseminate FP information. Given Youtube’s wide reach and popularity, this method can help the unmet need to strengthen sex education in schools.
