The article I’ve read is publish in the website of the Maternal Health Task Force. The article talked about dehumanizing treatment some women experienced during childbirth, these includes physical, verbal, and sexual abuses, and discrimination specially towards women who is a member of the ethnic minorities.

This article opened my eyes that even during childbirth, where women are in one of their most vulnerable state, experiences violence, in times when women really need comfort, they loose their dignity.

This article intensified my desire to be a better advocate for our patients. As early as now we can ensure in ourselves that prevention and elimination of such violence starts with us because, as the statement released by WHO, “every women has the right to the highest attainable standard of health, including the right to dignified, respectful care during pregnancy and childbirth”.
