In response to Making Pregnancy Safer, what are the current programs in the country to address maternal mortality and morbidity? Cite at least 1.

1. National Safe Motherhood Program
aims to improve women’s health and well-being by providing accessible healthcare services.

2. RH Law (Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Law)
aims to provide universal and free access to modern contraception, sexual education, maternal healthcare etc. this law also empowers women by giving them options thus giving them control over their well-being.

What can you suggest in order to decrease our maternal mortality and morbidity in the country? Give at least 3 suggestions.

1. Increase in Budget for the Health Sector - the increase in the budget in the health sector can greatly improve facilities and service offered for the public
2. Decriminalization of Abortion - one of the leading cause of maternal mortality in the Philippines is unsafe abortion. We should provide women options on what they want to do with their health.
3. Health and Sexual Education - through education we can destigmatize topics on reproduction as this can help younger generation what and what not to do, specially during the period of adolescence which is the stage of experimentation.
4. Provide up-to-date trainings for Health workers - this could greatly help strengthen skills and knowledge of our healthcare workers
5. Include the public in policy making - would greatly help in acquiring data first hand from those experiences what is lacking
