Answer the following questions and post your answers here. Cite references if possible.

  1. What is your opinion about the practice of family planning? Are you for it or against it?

Family Planning (FP) is having the desired number of children and when you want to have them by using safe and effective modern methods. (DOH, n.d.)

I believe that family planning is advantageous to all members of the family. Every couple or individual has the choice of how many children they wish to have, as well as the time and spacing of their pregnancies. Reducing the number of abortions, especially unsafe abortions, increases mother and child survival. It protects against sexually transmitted diseases (STIs), such as HIV and AIDS. It also contributes to women's empowerment, as well as social and economic progress and security.

  1. Are you in favor of the Reproductive Health Law and its provisions? Elaborate your answer.

Yes, I am in favor of the Reproductive Health Law. The RH Law is rooted in the human rights of every individual including their right to equality and non-discrimination, the right to sustainable human development, the right to health including RH, and the right to make decisions for themselves in accordance with their religious convictions, ethics, cultural beliefs, and the demands of responsible parenthood.  Aside from the benefits to Filipino women, the implementation of the RH Law also enhances children's health. The successful implementation of the RH Law will also result in healthier infants because mothers' health will be taken care of during their pregnancy and delivery under a comprehensive RH program.
