Module Objectives

The objectives of this module are as follows:

1. Enumerate the basic steps one must complete in evaluating a patient suspected as having malignancy.

2. Describe the essential information you can obtain from the patient's history and physical examination that would support the diagnosis of malignancy

3. Describe the clinical manifestations of cancer.

4. Discuss the approach to the diagnosis of malignancy in a patient.

5. Explain the significance of cancer staging.

4. Describe the different imaging and laboratory tests one can use when evaluating the extent of malignancy in a patient.

5. Discuss how to evaluate the effects of cancer on the physical capacity of a patient.

6. Describe how to estimate the rate of tumor progression clinically.

7. Describe the different management objectives one can aim for when planning the treatment of a cancer patient.
