Create a Shared Calendar

Opened: Thursday, 5 October 2023, 12:00 AM

The goal of this exercise: For the participant to be able to create a working calendar that is shared with others.

Mechanics:

  1. Think of your work or that of your office. What aspect of your work requires or is characterized by time-bound activities? Seek the help of your office mates, in case you're stuck thinking about it. Examples:
    • Report submissions (if your office requires other entities to submit documents to you on a regular basis)
    • A special/big event, which requires a plan of action.
    • Appointments with/by your boss, if you act as a secretary or assistant to your boss or supervisor, who is busy with meetings here and there.
    • A procurement project, which requires a series of activities with defined time frames.
  2. After you've identified a work aspect with time-bound activities or a project, create a Google calendar for it. Name and describe the calendar appropriately. (This is graded.)
  3. Share the calendar with relevant people with different permissions: a) See all event details, b) Make changes to events, c) Make changes to events and manage sharing. Make sure that your supervisor or boss has the permission c).
  4. For assignment submission purposes:
    • Share the calendar with dbcalmada@up.edu.ph and gtaquino2@up.edu.ph. This will enable us to check your output.
    • Upload a screenshot that shows the people with whom you shared the calendar. Make sure that the left side of the screenshot shows the calendar name. See the pre-uploaded file as an example.

Enjoy Google Calendar!
