Weekly outline
22 March - 28 March
You do not necessarily have to start with your proof using premise no. 1 in the given problem. You can use any other premises in the given if you think that these are needed to complete your solution. You just have to specify the premise no. or nos. and the abbreviated rule in the other column corresponding to the premise that was added.
Please answer #3-13 on another sheet of yellow paper. You have 1 week to work on this assignment. This will be submitted and checked once regular classes resume in April.
29 March - 4 April
As per instruction from UPM officials, we can continue with these series of assignments via VLE but further incentives will not be applicable for the succeeding homework, HW #3 and HW #4. But you are still encouraged to answer these exercises to hone your logical skills and to keep you ready for the exam. Please solve these 10 problems on a separate sheet of yellow pad paper again.
5 April - 11 April
This is the last of the series of homework for the Rules of Inference. Please solve this on another separate sheet of paper which will be solved and explained once classes resume. After this, another series of assignments for a new lesson on the Rules of Replacement will be posted should there be an extension of the quarantine period. Please try your best to study and solve these problems.
12 April - 18 April
Please study and master these rules of replacement before starting with the succeeding homework (#5 & 6). You will be using these in conjunction with the rules of inference. My advice is for you to study the equivalence on both the left and the right side after which, you check your own mastery by writing them down correctly before doing the homework.
Please analyze and study these examples to enable you to solve the succeeding items. The rules of replacement will be used together with the rules of inference, whenever necessary. These rules of replacement will allow you to complete and ease the process of the formal proof of validity.
Please solve items #3-10 as well as the full arguments (items 1-5) on a sheet of yellow paper as your Homework #5. Again, these will be solved and answered once regular classes resume. No incentives will be given for this but this is critical for the completion of our course syllabus, thus, will be included in the examination coverage. Likewise, this is important for those students planning to take the law aptitude exam. Good luck!
