Slow Reading Strategies

Go through the activity to the end

The slow reading strategies discussed here are: phrase reading, marking the text, and note-taking. Try out the short exercises provided.

Marking the Text

If the text you are reading is your own copy, you could underline key words, highlight with a marker, or write notes on the margins. If you don’t own the text, you could use little ‘post-it’ notes.

This process of marking texts can help you concentrate (and keep reading!) and it can help you identify key points and make the book easier to survey later when you need to use it again for your assignment or to review for an exam.

Let's try this!

Click the link below to go to the PDF annotation tool. In the tool bar, look for the highlighter icon. It will allow you to highlight the text and annotate by leaving comments. Annotations can be seen by others taking the course. You have a choice to post anonymously. You can use the eye icon to hide or show annotations.
