Throwing a baseball overhead

  1. DELTOID 

Innervation: Axillary Nerve (C5, C6)

Action: Flexes and medially rotates the arm at the shoulder joint, helping the initial forward movement of the arm.

  1. LATISSIMUS DORSI

Innervation: Thoracodorsal Nerve (C6, C7, C8)

Action: Adduction, Extends, and medially rotates the arm, bringing the arm downward and backward.

 

Kicking a ball

  1. GLUTEUS MAXIMUS

Innervation: Inferior Gluteal Nerve (L5,S1, S2)

Action: Laterally rotates the thigh and at the hip and Extends.

2. QUADRICEPS FEMORIS

Innervation: Femoral Nerve (L2,L3,L4)

Action: Extends the leg at the knee joint. Flexes the thigh at the hip joint.

 

Doing sit-ups

  1. RECTUS ABDOMINIS

Innervation: Thoracoabdominal Nerves (T7-T11)

Action: Pulling of the rib cage onto the pelvis during a sit-up. Also flexes the vertebral column.

  1. EXTERNAL OBLIQUE

Innervation: Thoracoabdominal Nerves (T7-T11) and Subcostal Nerve (T12)

Action: Also flexes the vertebral column. Assist in compressing the abdominal cavity

 

Breathing

  1. DIAPHRAGM

Innervation: Phrenic Nerve (C3,C4,C5)

Action: Contracts to flatten and increase the volume of thoracic cavity. Entry of air to lungs during inhalation.

  1. EXTERNAL INTERCOSTALS

Innervation: Intercostal nerves (T1-T11)

Action: Elevates the ribs, increasing the anteroposterior and lateral dimensions of the thoracic cavity during inhalation.
