1. PCV and Penta are given via intramuscular route to infant
Sites of Injection: anterolateral thigh
Target Muscle: vastus lateralis
> Origin: Greater trochanter and linea aspera of femur
> Insertion: Patella via quadriceps tendon and then tibial tuberosity via patellar ligament
> Action: extend leg at knee joint
How to Locate: From the anterior lateral perspective of the thigh, the muscle is to be found one hand's width above the knee and one hand's width below the great trochanter of the femur. Divide the remaining borders of the thigh into three parts, ideally administering the injection at the top, middle part of the division.

2. flu vaccine is given intramuscularly to senior citizen
Sites of Injection: upper arm
Target Muscle: deltoid
> Origin: Acromial extremity of clavicle (anterior fibers), acromion of scapula (lateral fibers), and spine of scapula (posterior fibers)
> Insertion: Deltoid tuberosity of humerus
> Action: Lateral fibers abduct arm at shoulder joint; anterior fibers flex and medially rotate arm at shoulder joint; posterior fibers extend and laterally rotate arm at shoulder joint
How to Locate: With a relaxed arm, locate the acromion process by palpating the most bony part of the shoulder. The muscle should be about 1-2 inches below the acromion process. From this point of the deltoid, the injection site is found another three fingers below.
