The lymphatic system plays a key role in maintaining fluid balance. Optimal functioning of the lymphatic system cannot occur unless the body is properly hydrated. This ensures the system can transport nutrients, remove waste, and maintain overall fluid balance in the body. I can apply this learning in my everyday life by drinking enough water and making a habit of choosing to drink water over less healthy alternatives like soda or overly sweetened drinks. On a more conceptual level, “needing to take care of my body so it can take care of me” is a motto that can be applied in the choices I make in my everyday life. I need to learn that taking care of my body is just as much an investment as my education for my future; I need to be making sure I’m drinking enough water, eating enough nutritious meals, and getting enough sleep in preparation for exams otherwise my body will be unable to function at best capacity, leaving me vulnerable to illness.
