The lymphatic system is primarily responsible for taking care of our bodies. Its functions include maintaining body fluids homeostasis and defending our body from pathogens through antibodies. This is an important concept to understand because we humans are vulnerable to diseases and injuries, which we can encounter any time of the day. For example, it is very common for children to trip and injure themselves. Another example is during the recent COVID-19 pandemic when almost the entire world was affected by the virus and caused immense devastation to millions of people. Moreover, it is important to know and advocate the importance of immunization or the process of injecting a substance into your body that contains the weakened or inactive parts of an antigen, strengthening the body by introducing a disease to your body without inciting its full symptoms. It played a huge part in preventing the further spread of the disease during the COVID-19 pandemic and for so long, people that were administered with vaccines are now less vulnerable to certain diseases like Measles and Hepatitis A and B. It is an interesting topic because it shows us how important it is to strengthen our immune system and that we can rely first on our own bodies to protect us in our everyday lives rather than artificial alternatives.
