Briefly describe the process of inflammation in an area that has been traumatized.

  • Inflammation is a normal bodily response to living tissue damage. The process of inflammation starts with the detection of the damaged tissue where they release chemicals that let our body know that there is damaged tissue. Next is vasodilation where our blood vessels dilate to allow more blood flow to the affected area. The affected area immediately becomes red, warm, and painful, and it begins to swell.

Choose one type of Immunity (Innate and Humoral) and explain how its mechanism protects our body

Innate Immunity

  • Innate immunity or nonspecific, immunity is the defense system we were born with. It protects our body against all antigens and involves barriers that keep harmful materials from entering the body. As it is the first immunological, non-specific mechanism for fighting against infections, the response is rapid, occurring minutes or hours after aggression, and is mediated by numerous cells including phagocytes, mast cells, basophils, and eosinophils.
