The cranial nerve affected by the infection is the VII nerve or the facial nerve. It is the facial nerve because it is responsible for controlling facial movement and expression to which the patient cannot move the muscles on the right side of the face. Moreover, it also carries nerves that are responsible for taste and dry mouth therefore, the facial nerves are affected.
