1. Name of Muscle: Platysma
Origin: From the skin and fascia overlying the region of the clavicle and passes superiority along the neck
Insertion: Mandible, skin of lower face, lower lip and sides of the mouth.
Action: Depresses mandible, tenses skin of inferior face and neck, facial expression of sadness

 


2.Name of Muscle: Mentalis
Origin: Body of mandible specifically the incisive fossa of mandible
Insertion: Skin of chin
Action: Protrudes lower lip and wrinkles skin of chin

3. Name of Muscle: Orbicularis Oris 
Origin: Muscle fibers surrounding opening of the mouth
Insertion: Skin at corner of mouth
Action: Protrudes the lips and closes/narrows the mouth

4.Name of Muscle: Corrugator Supercilii
Origin: Medial end of superciliary arches
Insertion: Skin of eyebrow
Action: Creates vertical wrinkles above the nose by drawing eyebrows inferiorly

5. Name of Muscle: Orbicularis Oculi
Origin: Medial wall of orbit, Nasal portion of frontal bone, frontal process of the maxilla, medial palpebral ligament, lacrimal bone.
Insertion: Circular path around orbit
Action: Closes eye

6. Name of Muscle: Occipitofrontalis
Origin: Frontalis: Epicranial aponeurosis
            Occipitalis: Occipital bone and mastoid process of temporal bone
Insertion: Skin superior to supraorbital margin
Action: Draws scalps anteriorly, elevates eyebrows, and wrinkles skin of forehead
