  1. Deltoid and Brachialis

    1. Deltoid Action: Shoulder muscles which allow the arms to reach the top of the head in order to do an overhead pass

    2. Deltoid Innervation: Axillary nerve

    3. Brachialis Action: Muscle found at the forearm near the elbow which contracts during the throw of the ball

    4. Brachialis Innervation: Musculocutaneous nerve 

  2. Quadriceps and Iliacus

    1. Quadriceps Action: Front thigh needed in kicking to start the motion and generate force

    2. Quadriceps Innervation: Femoral nerve

    3. Iliacus Action: Allows motion in the hips in accordance with the hip muscle to generate a kicking motion

    4. Iliacus Innervation: Femoral nerve

  3. Rectus abdominis and Rectus femoris

    1. Rectus abdominis Action: Forward bending motion during sit-ups creates motions within the lumbar portion of the spine

    2. Rectus abdominis Innervation: Thoracoabdominal nerve

    3. Rectus femoris Action: This muscle creates motion in the thigh from the hip all the way to the knees

    4. Rectus femoris Innervation: Femoral nerve

  4. Diaphragm and Abdominal

    1. Diaphragm Action: Main muscle for respiration, constantly contracting during breathing

    2. Diaphragm Innervation: Phrenic nerve

    3. Abdominal Action: This muscle main function is to produce abdominal pressure to exhale air

    4. Abdominal Innervation: Thoracic spinal nerves
