1. Platysma - Origin is at Fascia over Deltoid and Pectoralis major muscles. It inserts at the Mandible and also blends with the muscles around angle of mouth and the skin of lower face. The action of this muscle is that it draws the outer part of lower lip inferiorly and posteriorly which depresses the Mandible.

2. Mentalis - Origin is at the Mandible. It inserts at the skin of chin. The action of this muscle is that it elevates and protrudes lower lip and pulls the skin of chin up.

3. Orbicularis oris - Origin is at the Muscle fibers surrounding opening of mouth. It inserts at the skin at the corner of mouth. The action of this muscle is that it closes and protrudes lips, which imitates the expression of kissing, as shown in the image.

4. Corrugator Supercilii - Origin is at Medial end of Superciliary arch of frontal bone. It inserts at the skin of eyebrow. The action of this muscle is that it draws the eyebrow inferiorly and wrinkles the skin of forehead, which displays the expression of frowning.

5. Orbicularis oculi - Origin is at Medial wall of orbit. It inserts at the circular path around the orbit. The action of this muscle is simply closing the eye/s.

6. Occipitofrontalis: Frontal belly - Origin is at the Epicranial aponeurosis. It inserts at the skin superior to supraorbital margin. The action of this muscle is that it draws the scalp anteriorly, raises the eyebrows which wrinkles the forehead. This displays the look of surprise.
