Inflammation is our body’s response to different pathogens, infection or tissue damage. With this information, it does not only start when the wound has been infected; it starts the moment the body is fighting off against harmful substances. When a person is experiencing inflammation, he or she might experience one or more of these different symptoms: Redness, heat, swelling, pain, and loss of function.
Inflammation has three distinct phases: Inflammatory Response, repair and regeneration, and remodelling and maturation. Inflammatory Response is the first phase of inflammation. In this phase there will be an increase in localized blood flow, as well as the mobilization and delivery of cells, to the area to start healing. As a result, one may experience swelling, pain, etc. in this phase. Next, repair and regeneration is a phase when there will be a formation of collagen fibers. Considering that these fibers are new, the newly formed tissue will be weak (i.e. weak links between them). As a result, pain will be present when mobilizing the newly formed tissue. The last phase is remodelling and maturation. In this phase, the newly formed tissue’s goal is to strengthen its cellular organization.

Choose one type of Immunity (Innate and Humoral) and explain how its mechanism protects our body.
Innate immunity is a defense system that is present from the day we were born. It involves barriers which are the first line of defense in the immune response that protects us and keeps harmful bacteria such as pathogens from entering our bodies. The innate immunity’s response to defending our body from pathogens usually leads to inflammation.
