- After-dinner activities, assuming that the body clock's next activities are associated with the bedtime routine
The parasympathetic division of the Autonomic nervous system will primarily manage the "rest and digestion" stage of the human body. Several organs involved - major nerve supply; and effects of the nervous system on their functions
1. Stomach (digestion of food)- Vagus nerve (CN X); secretion of fluids to initiate digestion
2. Heart - Vagus nerve (CN X); slowing down of heart rate as part of relaxing at the end of the day
3. Constriction of pupils - Oculomotor nerve (CN III); constriction of the pupils which happens when the environment darkens e.g. reducing room light intensity
trivia: being more relaxed after eating helps the proper absorption of nutrients! - The autonomic nervous system (ANS) governed all her body's reactions. When we are in situations of danger or scenes that trigger our "flight and fight" body response, the sympathetic division of the ANS exhibits our body reactions. Increased heart rate, stimulation of sweat production, and arrector pili muscle contraction are just some of the effects. When our brains sense imminent danger or that we are threatened, stress hormones are released which initiates the emergency response of the body to avoid stress or danger.
