The cranial nerves affected by the viral infection, experienced by the patient, are the Trigeminal Nerves (V), Oculomotor Nerves (III), Glossopharyngeal Nerve (IX) and Facial Nerves (VII). The trigeminal nerve is responsible for face and cheeks sensation, which is seen in how the patient cannot move the right side of her face. Furthermore, the patient’s loss of taste and dry mouth is due to the affected facial and glossopharyngeal nerves, which facilitate the sense of taste. Lastly, the affected Oculomotor nerve causes the patient to be incapable of closing her right eye.
