When we say a gene is expressing itself, what does "gene expression" mean in relation to protein synthesis?
Intricacy is summoned in each cell’s strictly regulated process for converting genes into proteins called gene expression. Gene expression is the result of transcription and translation working together. Transcription is the synthesis of DNA to mRNA; whereas, translation boils down to the conversion of genetic information into proteins. Proteins are drawn from a wealth of genes and dictatorship in cell functions is bestowed in its domain. Owing to this ground, the capacity of cells are determined by the hundreds of genes that are expressed. As an added bonus, the cell can potentially regulate each stage of the informational chain from DNA to RNA to protein by altering the quantity and kind of proteins it produces. Wherein, operation of cells is given the ability to self-regulate.
