5 Muscles affected by by Bell’s palsy:
Buccinator - preserves the tightness of the cheeks and presses them against the teeth; assists the tongue to keep the bolus of food central in the oral cavity; draws corner of mouth laterally
Orbicularis oculi - closes eye
Orbiculariis oris - controls the shape movement of the lips during speech; closes, protrudes, and compresses the lips against teeth

Platysma muscles - draws outer part of lower lip inferiorly and posteriorly (pouting); depresses mandible
Mechanism of Bell’s palsy:
The facial nerve inflammation that causes compression along this restricted stretch of the fallopian canal is the most likely cause of Bell's palsy. This segment of the canal is limited. This inflammation may initially cause a loss of sensory or motor function, but it may eventually lead to nerve degeneration.
Symptoms of Bell’s Palsy:
His facial weakness can cause a variety of symptoms, including difficulties speaking, eating, or drinking; drooling; dry eyes; experiencing discomfort in the face or ears; headache; loss of taste; ringing in the ears; sensitivity to noises; and variations in the number of tears and saliva that are produced.
