Action: closes and protrudes lips; compresses lips against teeth; shapes lips during speech
Buccinator
Action: presses cheeks against teeth and lips
Occipitofrontalis
Action: draws scalp anteriorly, raises eyebrows, and wrinkles skin of forehead
Mechanism:
Bell’s Palsy dysfunctions the cranial nerve II, which results in the drooping of one side of the face.
Symptoms:
Weak eyelid closure
Aching of the ear
Numbness of the cheek/mouth
