- Platysma
- Origin – the subcutaneous tissue of infraclavicular and supraclavicular regions
- Insertion – The base of the mandible, skin of cheek and lower lip, angle of mouth modiolus, orbicularis oris
- Action – it causes the mandible to be depressed as well as the skin of the inferior face and neck to be tense.

- Origin – the body of the mandible
- Insertion – the skin of the chin
- Action – Elevates the lower lip and skin of chin
- Orbicularis oris
- Origin – the medial maxilla and mandible, deep. Surface of peri-oral skin, modiolus
- Insertion – the mucous membrane of lips
- Action – closes oral fussier or phasic contraction, it also compresses and protrudes lips or resists distension
- Corrugator supercilia
- Origin – the medial end of superciliary arch
- Insertion – the skin superior to middle of supraorbital margin and superciliary arch
- Action – it draws eyebrow medially and inferiorly, creating vertical wrinkles above nose
- Orbicularis oculi
- Origin – the medial orbital margin, medial palpebral. Ligament, lacrimal bone.
- Insertion – the skin around the margin of orbit, superior and inferior tarsal plates
- Action – closes eyelids, palpebral part does so gently, while the orbital part does so tightly
- Horizontal Forehead Lines
- Origin – the Galea aponeurotica, eyebrow dermis, terminates laterally at temporal ridge
- Insertion – Orbicularis oculi muscle
- Action – it raises the eyebrows and wrinkles the skin on forehead
